Instead of heading straight to Salzburg we elected to head a little further north to Mondsee town and lake of the same name. We had a bit of a hill to get over and then a 110m drop down to Mondsee (Lake Moon?). The beautiful scenery goes on and on. There were frequent stops for photos before we arrived in the centre of Mondsee for lunch followed by the inevitable ice cream for Mark in particlar and the rest of us just to keep him company.

Our first view of Lake Moon

Here we are between a rock and a wet place.

Now that is called having a rockery in your back garden.

A magnet for tourists in Mondsee.

and another.

Fortunately, we reached Salzburg before the mountains and went straight to the railway station to check train times and buy bike tickets for tomorrow’s train to Munich. From there it was a ride along the river to the old city and the Radisson. There is a great deal to see here, so here is a selection of photos without further comments. Other than that, I’ll be on my way home tomorrow while Mark and John stay in Munich for a couple of days so many thanks to everybody for watching and commenting.

Christmas decorations.
